Ames Elementary School
Recycling Committee Meeting

October 26, 2011

At the first meeting of the Recycling Committee, we introduced ourselves and explained why we were interested in being part of the committee. Some of the reasons given were to make the world a cleaner and better place and to save trees and money.

The committee members are:

Evan and Summer – Ms. Campbell's class

Kiara and Haley– Mrs. Craig-Foley's class

Josh and Dustin – Ms. Luchetti's class

Mallory and Klairha – Mrs. Ladd's class

Madison M., Adriana, and Brianna – Ms. Ryan's class

ZachM. - Ms. Federle's class

The first thing we worked on in our meeting was assigning people to be responsible for recycling in each area of the school. Students will check their areas to make sure there are recycling bins in place. If there are no blue bins, they will label a regular waste basket or box for recycling white paper only. Each classroom person/team will be responsible for their own room. Other areas were assigned as follows:

Ms.Trask/Ms. Mallard's room – Dustin

Pre-Kclassroom – Mallory & Klairha

Library/Copier/ComputerLab/Nurse's room – Grade 3 team

Mrs.Miller/Mrs. Morse/Ms. Ferriter's rooms – Josh & Adriana

Teacher's Room copier – Zach

Art/Music room – Brianna & Madison

Kitchen/Stage– Mallory & Klairha

The other thing we worked on was counting Caprisun pouches that have been collected in the kitchen. Ms. Luchetti said that students are welcome to come continue counting pouches any time they are not in class and she is in the room.

The next committee meeting will be in 3 weeks.
